Sheffield Manufacturing Photographer | JRI Orthopaedics

I was delighted to be asked to photograph a series of images for JRI Orthopaedics Manufacturing in Sheffield for their new website.

One of the key features they wanted to showcase was their new 3D printing machine. It’s been fascinating to watch the development of 3D printing over the years, from relatively simple prints to highly advanced manufacturing processes capable of producing custom replacement bones and joints. For me, this kind of technology represents the future of manufacturing, and I wanted to find a way to convey that in the photographs.

I enjoyed having the opportunity to plan something a little different for this shoot. Using LED lighting, off-camera flash and a few of my favourite unusual camera lenses, I experimented with ways to highlight the machine and give the images a more distinctive feel. I’m really pleased with how the photographs turned out.

Alongside the machine photography, we spent time on the factory floor documenting JRI’s employees at work. These images help tell a broader story about the business, showcasing not only the technology and equipment but also the people and expertise behind the manufacturing process.

As a Sheffield manufacturing photographer, I particularly enjoy working with businesses that are making interesting things and using new technologies. Whether photographing specialist machinery, manufacturing processes or the people behind them, my aim is to create natural, engaging images that give potential customers a genuine insight into how a business works.
